How to have Beautiful Wedding Flowers on a Smaller Budget?

5 ways to save money on your wedding flowers.

1.      Work out your priorities!

First things first, work out your budget!

Make a list of your priorities with the most important at the top.  Decide how important your wedding flowers are. Budget according to what you both agree on.

2.      Flexibility is key.

If you are having artificial flowers, seasonality doesn’t really apply. The time of year or the season you choose to get married in certainly won’t affect the cost of your flower stems. This could help to make artificial flowers a strong contender for your wedding flowers as you can have whichever flowers you want, no matter what the season is.

If you are looking at having fresh flowers for your wedding day, then seasonality is going to play a massive role in how far your wedding flower budget will stretch. Flowers that are in season tend to be priced higher due to the supply and demand. You may REALLY want a Peony but after seeing the price this could leave you slightly disheartened. Your florist will be able to advise you on what alternatives you could have that offer just as much beauty and elegance but will make you and your budget a little happier.

Choosing flowers with larger heads will mean you will need less, and you could fill them out with beautiful filler flowers and foliage. Hydrangeas and Peonies and Dahlias work well as a larger flower.

Don’t forget, you can ‘hire’ your flower arrangements for your venue décor and this will provide the look of fresh flowers with the hassle, cost or waste. Artificial Flowers is a great way to incorporate sustainability practices into your wedding. If you have an eco-conscious focus, they can serve as an environmentally friendly choice. 3.      Reuse and Repurpose

Using your flowers for more than one purpose is always recommended by us at Mayflower and Lily. We try our best to work with your budget to bring your floral visions to life, as closely as we can.

Your Bridesmaids Bouquets can be placed into a beautiful vase and placed on your guests tables. Your Floral Garland for your Registry Table can be repositioned on to the Top Table after the ceremony.

The Floral Columns that framed you both during the ceremony will be the perfect backdrop for your guests to take photographs during the reception, what a lovely way to record the memories of all of your guests enjoying themselves at your wedding.

Your Luxury artificial Flower Bouquets, which will last forever with minimal care and maintenance will also make lovely ‘Thank You’ gifts for those people who have helped you throughout your relationship and your wedding planning journey.

4.      Simple can be Stunning

You have all heard of the age-old adage ‘Less is more’. This really can work for your wedding flowers as well as long as you and your florist and thoughtful and intentional with your arrangements. Investing in quality flowers and arrangements over quantity will make your budget go further. Your guests will notice a smaller-than-average bridal bouquet or a ‘too-small-for-the-table centrepiece more than they would fewer intentional floral arrangements.

Keeping it simple can be just as classic and elegant as any larger arrangement. The larger your arrangement, the more stems will be required, this will mean increased costs on product and also increased costs on the extra time needed for your florist to spend designing and creating. Larger arrangements can take hours to complete and inevitably ‘time is money’.

5.      Creativity!

Look at the theme you are aiming for, how can you incorporate non floral elements to your day that will compliment fewer floral stems? Candles can work really well amongst bud vases. If your venue doesn’t allow open flames, then there are some really brilliant L.E.D candles available now that can create the same warmth and ambience. Instead of flowers, why not incorporate more foliage or twigs to add texture? You could even spray the twigs with a metallic paint to add a touch of glamour.

Whatever budget you decide on for your wedding flowers always remember to ‘Let your florist do their own thing’. Your florist is there to guide you and offer advice that could help you achieve your wedding flower goals. They should listen to your ideas and expectation and offer solutions. Trust your florist to put their own creative spin on your wedding inspiration with flowers to ensure you achieve what you hope for, aesthetically and financially.
